MINE Youth Project

MINE is an interdisciplinary project that combines dance, theatre, sound and clothing to explore consumerism, fast fashion, identity, body image and memory.

Dance artists Kelly McInnes & Rianne Svelnis began co-facilitating MINE Youth Project, a free collaborative creation workshop at Trout Lake Community Centre in October 2016. Recently Kelly wrapped up the second season of the project which took place twice a week at Kensington Community Centre.

The sessions include movement skill building, movement and voice improvisation exercises, discussion around the topics of the work, sharing stories and collaborative creation for performance.

In spring 2018, Kelly and Rianne travelled to Northern BC to facilitate MINE Youth Project workshops in Prince Rupert and Smithers.

The project has been made possible by Made in BC in partnership with the Vancouver Parks Board through BC Arts Council and the Vancouver Foundation, ArtStarts, Trout Lake Community Centre and Kensington Community Centre.
